Proof of sponsorship and/or provision of accommodation
General
A proof of sponsorship or provision of accommodation is a document which declares that you have invited someone from abroad to come to the Netherlands. This document is sometimes needed to support a visa application. A visa is an official permit which allows someone to enter and stay in a country. A proof of sponsorship or provision of accommodation helps someone obtain a visa. You will then be acting as a financial guarantor for that person. This means that you promise to pay that person's debts if they are unable to do so.
You must fill in and send the proof of sponsorship or provision of accommodation to the person you wish to invite. First, you must visit the Town Hall to have your signature legalised. This means that we will check your identity and signature. This proves that you are actually the person who is signing the document. If you wish to do this, please make an appointment.
