Sewerage charge
General
Do you live or run a business in the municipality of Schagen? Your home or commercial premises is usually connected to the municipal sewerage system and you have to pay sewerage charge.
Why do I pay a sewerage charge?
We use the taxes you pay for the sewerage system to make sure that the municipal system functions effectively. We maintain the sewerage system, repair it whenever necessary, and build new sewers.
You pay a sewerage charge because waste water is drained from your plot to the municipal sewerage system.
The amount you have to pay
The amount you pay in sewerage charge is determined by how much water you use. This data is provided to the municipality by PWN (the water company). PWN never provides data for exactly one year (365 days). For example: one year you might inform PWN of your water usage on 1 November and the next year on 23 November. Therefore, we base our calculations on 365 days.
In 2024, the sewerage charge rate is as follows: €220 per 350 m³ of water that you discharge into the sewerage system.
In 2023, the sewerage charge rate is as follows: €205 per 350 m³ of water that you discharge into the sewerage system.
