Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation
General
A proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation is a document which declares that you have invited someone from abroad to come to the Netherlands. This document is sometimes needed to support a visa application. A visa is an official permit which allows someone to enter and stay in a country. A proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation helps someone to obtain a visa. You will act as financial guarantor for this person. This means that you promise to pay this person's debts if he or she is unable to do so.
You must fill in and send the proof of sponsorship or private accommodation to the person you wish to invite. First, you must visit the Town Hall to have your signature legalised. This means that we will check your identity and signature. This proves that you are actually the person who is signing the document. If you wish to do this, please make an appointment.
What do you need to bring with you?
You can download a proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation from the website of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).
